Nevolat is a once-daily weight loss injection containing the active ingredient liraglutide, and is a branded generic version of Saxenda. It’s a GLP-1 receptor agonist, like Mounjaro and Wegovy, meaning it helps to reduce your appetite while making you feel fuller for longer. By doing so, it can help support you on your weight loss journey and is most effective used alongside heathier eating habits and increased physical activity.
Nevolat’s active ingredient, liraglutide, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. This means that it emulates a natural hormone in your stomach that is released after you eat. It slows down your body’s rate of processing food, while signalling to your brain that you’re full. This can help you with portion control and snacking, making it easier to stick to a balanced diet long-term.
While it was originally designed to treat diabetes, Nevolat is now regularly prescribed for weight loss.

You’ve started treatment, and you’re beginning to see results. You’re building healthier habits, feeling more confident, and noticing wins outside the scales. Think looser clothing and more energy for the things you love.

You’ve settled into a routine that supports real, lasting change. The habits you’ve built now help keep the weight off for good, and our clinicians and weight loss specialists continue to guide you every step of the way.
Nevolat comes in 5 doses, starting at 0.6mg a day, before gradually building to the maximum 3mg dose over a 5-week period. This gives you a chance to get used to the medication and reduces the chance of side effects.
Your Nevolat dosing schedule will likely be:
Each Nevolat pen is filled with 3ml of solution, containing 18mg of liraglutide. This means there isn’t a 0.6mg pen, or a 3mg pen. Instead, you’ll need to select the right dose on your Nevolat pen as you gradually move up each strength.
When injecting, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, you should ensure you avoid injecting in the same place twice, rotating between your tummy, thighs and upper arm. It’s also good to maintain a regular injection schedule, sticking to the same time each day, as it helps make sure the right amount of medication is in your body at any one time.
If you forget to inject Nevolat on time, don’t worry. You’ve got a 12 hour window to take your dose, so make sure you inject straight away if you remember within that time period.
If you miss your injection and it’s been over 12 hours, however, you should skip the day entirely. Don’t worry about doubling up on your dosage the following day, just continue with your routine as normal, injecting your single dose.
If you do happen to forget for 3 days, you should drop down to the lowest dose and work your way back up again. This is because, if you continue at a higher dose after a break, you might experience more side effects.
A single Nevolat pen can cost around £53.99, with packs of 5 costing anywhere from £95 to £220.
If prescribed on the NHS, Nevolat will cost the standard prescription charge of £9.90 (unless you’re eligible for free prescriptions).
Pack size | Price |
|---|---|
1 Pen | £53.99 |
3 Pens | £135.00 |
5 Pens | £220.00 |
10 Pens | £430.00 |
15 Pens | £630.00 |
Nevolat’s active ingredient, liraglutide, can help patients lose 8% of their starting weight on average. A 2015 study conducted over 56 weeks found that that 2,487 patients on a max dosage lost an average of 8.4kg.
You should also be able to tell whether Nevolat will be effective quite early on. Once you’ve reached the max 3.0mg a day dose and maintained it for 12 weeks, you should have seen a loss of at least 5% of your initial body weight.
If you haven’t lost at least 5% of your body weight, it’s recommended you stop using it. This is because it might not be the most effective weight loss medication for you, and you may find more success with another treatment.
Nevolat has been shown to be less effective in clinical trials than both Wegovy injections and Wegovy pills.

As both Nevolat and Saxenda contain the same active ingredient, along with a few differing inactive ingredients, they are essentially the same. For this reason, Nevolat tends to be regarded as a ‘generic’, more affordable version of Saxenda.
Technically, yes. Inactive ingredients and price points are the only differences that separate Nevolat and Saxenda. The dosage and titration process is the same, and you’ll see very similar results.
As with any prescription treatment, there is the chance of side effects with Nevolat. However, these tend to be mild, and most patients find they go away on their own.
You should not use Nevolat if you have a family history or MTC or MEN 2.
